Installing Mixmax and required permissions

This article describes Mixmax installation and onboarding and the exact permissions you give to Mixmax.

Updated over a week ago

If you want to use Mixmax, you will need to download and install the Mixmax Chrome extension. Installing the browser extension will add Mixmax features to your Gmail. Make sure to use the email address you used to sign up for Mixmax.

To install Mixmax for the first time and complete the onboarding process, please visit mixmax.com and click Get started for free. You will then need to agree to our Terms of Services and Privacy Policy to continue.

A window will appear, and you will be prompted to select the Gmail account you want to use with your Mixmax account. Enter your password, and you will see the following:

Mixmax wants to access your Google Account

Mixmax needs your permission to work with your email so we can provide you with productivity-boosting features like email tracking, reminders, send later, and sequences. Click Allow to continue with the rest of the setup.

If you see an error message "This application is not allowed by your administrator," like in the screenshot below, please ask your Google Workspace admin to enable permissions for the Mixmax extension.

Mixmax Permissions

We’re committed to keeping your data secure and your private information private and being transparent about our practices.

For transparency, to provide all of the enhancements that make Mixmax amazing, we need to work with your Gmail inbox. For any type of application that interacts with Gmail, users must grant permission for certain rights and access.

For your peace of mind, below is a list of actions users grant Mixmax permission to perform and how we utilize each item. Feel free to also review our Privacy Policy and terms of service.

Read, send, delete, and manage your email

Mixmax requests these permissions so we can provide you with features like open, click, and reply tracking, send later, and calendar scheduling within an email. This is the name of the Google permission; Mixmax does not have the ability to read email in your inbox. This uses the https://mail.google.com/ permission scope.

Manage your basic mail settings

Mixmax needs access to your mail settings so we can honor your existing preferences, including undo send, email aliases, and email signature. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.settings.basic permission scope.

See, edit, download, and permanently delete your contacts

When you email new people, Mixmax will save them in Google Contacts so they'll show up in the To field the next time you email them. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/contacts permission scope.

See, edit, share, and permanently delete all the calendars you can access using Google Calendar

Mixmax enables you to quickly set up meetings via email by offering times when you’re available; after your recipients choose a time, we schedule the meeting on your Google calendar. If they cancel a meeting, we'll remove the meeting for you. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/calendar permission scope.

View users on your domain

Mixmax requests access to view other users on your email domain. This is so we can show them as contacts in the To field when typing an email, even if these users do not exist in your Google Contacts. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/admin.directory.user.readonly permission scope.

See, edit, create, and delete all of your Google Drive files

Mixmax enables you to attach files from Google Drive. This uses the https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive permission scope.
